Master Sommelier's notes
Maison MC Thiriet is a new micro-négoce based out of Chateau de Comblanchien, in the Côted’Or. After years of experience in both the production and sales side, Canadian-born winemaker Matt Chittick and Burgundian wine industry professional Camille Thiriet, have thrown caution and better judgement to the wind in order to realise a long term dream of producing Burgundy under their own label. Camille and Matt met while working for Nicolas Potel at the Domaine de Bellene. Matt was the winemaker from 2011 to 2014 and Camille was the head of sales. Maison Roche de Bellene produces wine from over 75 different appellations so the experience gave Matt and Camille access to a great deal of reputable growers and producers across the
Cote D’or. This insight and network of relationships allows them to source only the best fruit for their own label from organic winemakers and growers who they know and admire. 2016 is the first vintage from Maison MC Thiriet and it was lovingly made in the small garage of the Chateau de Comblanchien situated just above the RN74 between Beaune and Nuits St Georges. Only four barrels of Bourgogne Blanc and three barrels of Cote de Nuits Village were produced. Pump overs and wine movements were done by gravity and the grapes were pressed using a small wooden basket press. The wines were fermented with natural yeasts and minimal sulphur additions. Neutral oak barrels were used to focus on primary fruit and site expression.
