From a single block of Montepulciano comes a singular expression of the grape. The result is a wine that sits between Burgundy and Sicily. One of the most exciting wines I've tried recently.
- Grape: Montepulciano
- Region: Abruzzo, Italy
About the winemaker
“In a region that is often backward, still enamoured with the overuse of wood, pushing ripeness levels of their Pecorino into the tropical zone, and releasing more substandard Trebbiano, Tiberio is like a beacon. They are easily one of the top three producers in the region.” Ian D’Agata, Vinous
Prior to taking over the family estate, Cristiana Tiberio had an impressive array of winemaking experience, including Jacques Selosse in Champagne, Nicolas Joly at Coulee de Serrant, Egon Muller in the Mosel, and various producers in Chablis. You can assume from her resume that structure and minerality are key to her style.
